Hey, y’all! It’s time for my accountability post of 2025!
This year has been…a lot. As you are all no doubt well aware. That said, I did manage some writing progress. It was marginal, but it was mine.
First, I sent in my edits for A River Wide! We are aiming for summer, it’s very exciting, and I can’t wait until I have more to tell you about it. This was my big goal for 2025 and I met it.
Briar Rose continued to be my main WIP this year, and my goal was to get it finished or to 100,000 words, whichever came first. I’m doing this post a little early since I don’t really want to be pondering my productivity over the holiday. As of this moment I am 2,989 words away from the 100,000 benchmark, having written over 29,000 words this year on that project. It’s possible I will barely scrape in under the deadline for this goal. If not I expect to be very close.
My total wordcount for the year was about 32,000 words, which is about what I managed last year in terms of pure fiction. We’ll see if I can bring that up whenever we start really sleeping through the night over here. I did manage to do 10 posts counting this one and another 5,000 words of blogging. So that’s slightly up from last year as well. Maybe this will be an incremental uphill trend? A third of a book is nothing to sneeze at with everything else going on in my life, so I am attempting to see it as a win.
Unsurprisingly, I didn’t make much progress on anything outside of these two projects. I kind of knew that was going to happen, and I’m hopeful 2026 offers me a little more energy to bring back to writing.
Anyway, here’s to another year of chipping away at things!
