Year End Recap

Good evening, hello there, howdy do! I vanished for the fall, and I’m just popping in to say some things about 2024, as one does in December. Probably no “Best of” posts this year, because I am generally otherwise occupied right now, but I did want to celebrate my accomplishments this year, as is tradition.

So without further ado, here are the things I managed as a writer in 2024.

  • Wrote approximately 31,000 new fiction words
  • Finished a first pass edit on a novel-sized thing because my edit brain was working at points where my writing brain wasn’t (I’d started this in 2023)
  • Wrote seven whole blogposts apparently, counting this one – so roughly one every other month
  • Wrote several poems, because poetry is more intuitive for me and therefore works well with sleep deprivation

To be honest I’ll count all of that a win, actually. I mean, I did pretty good there, considering that for 11 out of the 12 months of this year I was unable to sleep for longer than two hours at a time (sometimes less) for most nights. A win. This kind of win.

Anyway, if you’re reading this thanks for sticking around while the blog was mostly dark and quiet. I do expect 2025 will be slightly more exciting from a writing perspective, if for no other reason than that I am expecting an edit letter any day now. But more on that later.

Happy holidays, happy new year, and I will catch you all on the flip side.
