Life is a whirlwind

You may notice that I didn’t post last week. Usually I give warning if I am not going to post, but honestly last week was an entire mess that I largely can’t discuss and I’ve fallen behind in my blog queue given the whirlwind of June. My brother got married on the 21st, we bought a new car the week before that, and next week we leave on the largest trip we’ve ever taken. Add into that chaotic cocktail the bitters of personal drama, and you’ve got a recipe for a very fast June and a scary-looking July.

There’s lots to celebrate right now, and I’m super happy for my brother. The service was beautiful, we had a great time at dinner afterwards, and I got to meet some of my new in-laws (which is always fun). Our family gatherings are pretty small these days. The S.O. and I don’t have children, and the older generations are disappearing. A lot of our gatherings feel a little ghostly, though there’s still plenty of love shared. So getting to welcome new family is really nice.

I mentioned we are traveling soon, but I don’t know if I’ve mentioned how long. The S.O. and I are moving to Seattle for a few months for his work. The cats will remain behind under the care of one of their uncles, and we will be road-tripping and largely living out of a car for at least two weeks starting next weekend. It’s kind of excellent. I’ve always wanted to do a roadtrip across the US on my terms, and I am super excited about the trip. We’re stopping in the Badlands National Park and Glacier National Park, parks on our respective bucket lists. I’m very much hoping the weather calms down some by the time we make it out that way.

So that’s what is taking up most of my time at the moment. I will probably have very limited posts over the month of July, followed by a dump of adventure posts in August. So don’t worry — while not everything is fine, a lot of things are good and I’ll be back to blogging before you know it. Hopefully with some fun new announcements and projects to update you on, even.

Until August!
